Samsung Series 7


Working Progress

My product:

  • SCREEN: LCD Led 14” 16:9 (HD Ready 1600x900)
    • Work out of box

  • CHIPSET: Intel HM65. 
    • Work out of box

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2430M (2.40 GHz / 3.00 GHz, 2 core, 3 MB CACHE L3). 
    •  echo silent > /sys/devices/platform/samsung/performance_level
      • Slows down the fans and prevent the laptop to go too high with CPU (2)

  • VIDEO CARD: AMD Radeon HD 6490M 1 GB GDDR5. 
    •  Installed 13.2 Radeon driver from ATI website. Set to use Intel graphic card.
    • The Graphic card also work well.

  • HARD DISK: 750 GB SATA II 7200 rpm + 8 GB SSD. 
    •  Changed 750Gb with 128 Samsung SSD
      • To prevent useless write on the hard drive save /temp, spool and logs on the RAM (7)
 
  • DISK: Burner dvd dual layer (slot-in). 
    • Never used to burn.

  • AUDIO: 
    • Work out of the box

  • WEBCAM: webcam HD 1.3 megapixel. 
    • Work out of the box

  • NETWORK: 
    • LAN 10/100/1000
      • Work out of the box, disabled from bios to save energy
    • WLAN 802.11n MIMO
      • Work out of box, no way to save energy but turn off.
    • Bluetooth 3.0+HS. 
      • Work out of the box
        • echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/samsung/rfkill/rfkill1/state; turn off the device

  • INTERFACES: 
    • 1 x USB 2.0, 
    • 1 x USB 3.0, 
    • 1 x HDMI, 
    • Mini Vga
    • Slot SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC. 
    • All work out of the box 

  • Keyboard\Touchpad
    •  Keyboard luminosity inside "/sys/devices/platform/samsung/leds/samsung::kbd_backlight/brightness"
      • Level from 0 to 8
    • Touchpad: Works Ok, palm detection not active 
 
  • OS: Kubuntu 12.10 Kernel 3.5.0-23 x64 
    •  Suspend: Work with (1) Script

  • BATTERY: 8 Cells. Should give from 5 to 7 hours.
